Or so my thinking went back when I had less of a sense of the value of my own time. “Acquire” applied to buying something or bringing in an open-source solution. If you just built it, you didn’t need to worry about EULAs or copylefts or interoperability or any of the other messy things you don’t have to deal with when you build 100% of what you need from the ground up.
